WASSILY KANDINSKY
- Born: December 16, 1866 in Moscow, Russia
- Died: December 13, 1944 in Paris, France
About 1909 Kandinsky began to think that painting didn't need a particular subject, but that shapes and colours alone could be art. Over the next several years he would start to paint what would become known as Abstract Art.
PIET MONDRIAN
Dutch modern painter Piet Modrian is best known for his 1920’s works of art that feature only horizontal and vertical lines along with black, white and primary colours.
